International genetic evaluation at the INTERBULL center
International genetic evaluation at the INTERBULL center
Interbull was established in 1983 as a joint organisation of ICAR, the European Association for Animal Production (EAAP) and the International Dairy Federation (IDF). Trade in semen and embryos required accurate and comparable evaluations of animals — particularly bulls — both within and especially across countries. The international exchange of information provided by Interbull helps member countries to develop effective methods for the genetic evaluation of cattle. In 2008, we submitted our national genetic evaluation of the Holstein and Simmental populations to the international evaluation at the INTERBULL center for the first time.
